Cheers to this Design Inspiration!
Some dear clients of ours saw a custom bar we designed for a client in Pasadena, and they loved the feel and drama of it. The glass and brass details and multiple finishes were important details that were most memorable to them.
That bar in Pasadena became the design inspiration for a bar our Montecito clients wanted to incorporate in the dining room of their upcoming construction project of a contemporary custom home.
They wanted a cool vibe and both a back and front facing bar counter, easily accessible and easy to serve from, for just themselves or a hired bartender.
A year later, we pulled out all the stops to plan the special design details that would make our clients’ home completely unique, tailored for the quiet elegance and comfort they desired.
We imagined how the dining room would be used for comfortable gatherings, and by the time we were finished, we could hear the martinis being shaken, not stirred. We even planned where that martini shaker would be stored. Cheers!
Our finished design is crisp and fresh, with touches of glam in brass and glass. The cabinetry is warm walnut, with a dusty blue finish on the accent wall cabinets and the right side of the front facing bar. A floating, counter-height drink ledge wraps around most of the front facing bar. Our brass-based counter stools are perfect for those martinis, and are upholstered in croc leather, dyed in dark blue.
The entire home has an artistic vibe, and the bar is no exception. The accessories were selected to bring in color, texture and artistry. They draw ones’ eye back to the bar and they balance the height of the dusty blue console and mirror on the opposite wall.
We love how inspiration takes flight, from a wish to something really special! In between those two stages is brainstorming at its finest.
